Dubai To Develop 17,080 Homes Via Affordable Housing Policy

On March 12, Dubai allocated 1.46 million sq. m. of land to develop 17,080 new residential units in accordance with a newly approved Dubai affordable housing policy. This initiative is aimed at providing housing to skilled professionals in Dubai—to offer a better quality of life for residents in the Emirate of all income levels.

These new affordable rental properties in Dubai will be offered at low rental rates while featuring thoughtfully designed, high-quality living spaces with access to key infrastructure and essential services.

The first phase for these new residential units in Dubai involves developing six sites in the following areas:

  1. Al Mueisim 1
  2. Al Twar 1
  3. Al Qusais Industrial 5
  4. Al Leyan 1

HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, approved the series of policies and initiatives for expanding affordable housing in Dubai on Wednesday.

The Supreme Committee for Urban Planning will oversee the project. Meanwhile, the Dubai Land Department, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, General Directorate for Identity and Foreigners Affairs—Dubai, Dubai Civil Defence, and Dubai Real Estate Corporation will implement the initiative.

"We are committed to offering a range of housing options, and we welcome all ideas that contribute to a cohesive and prosperous society that embraces diversity—Dubai is a city for everyone,” said Sheikh Hamdan.

The program, which targets skilled professionals in Dubai, intends to increase access to high-quality housing and basic services for people of all income levels, establish more lively neighborhoods, encourage economic growth, and create jobs.

Sheikh Hamdan further noted that shaping the future and pursuing sustained growth through empowerment has long been a guiding principle for Dubai: “It is a vision we continue to follow under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. We are realizing this vision through cross-sector collaboration, ensuring Dubai remains the destination of choice for the most ambitious global talent.”

Notably, the affordable housing initiative is in line with the Affordable Housing Policy approved by the Council and the objectives of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
